Runes of Magic (Read the Info)

Perfect World has begun to get a little stale for me. I find myself becoming bored with game and tired of the quests and grinding. So, I decided to try a new game called Runes of Magic, another free MMORPG. This does not mean I'm completely switching games. I didn't want to flood your screen with annotations (I don't have a mic right now), so here's what's going on in each of the video clips.

1st Clip: Runes of Magic has a dual class system that allows you to choose a secondary class at level 10, which can easily be done in 2-3 days. If anyone has played Guild Wars, the class system is pretty similar to that. After you get your secondary class you can choose to completely ignore it, or level it up to the level of your primary class. When your both of your classes are level 15, you can then get elite skills. Also, you have 2 sets of equipment, 1 for each class.

2nd Clip: This is one of the biggest cities in Runes of Magic, however there usually aren't too many people here. Most people are somewhere out in the fields killing monsters, or completing other quests.

3rd Clip: There are loads of quests in Runes of Magic. The first window open is my quest list, and the second window open, with the map, has a list of all available quests on the left side. The quests in Runes of Magic, for the most part, are really fun. Here's an example: One of the first quest lines you get is from a girl named Lola who asks you to go on a treasure hunt. She gives you clues as to where the treasures are, such as, "Go to the place where it is very noisy and people cough in the dust. Also, watch out for big blades." Once you find the treasure, you talk to her and get the next clue. For the final clue, she gives you a map with some clues and co-ordinates to the location of Howling Mountain's greatest treasure.

4th Clip: There are tons of armor and equipment to get in this game, I've found plenty of good equipment from monster drops, but usually I get my equipment from quest rewards. Some of the equipment comes in sets, like my Logar set. You get a piece of each set for completing a certain quest line in Logar. After you get 2 pieces, you get a bonus, I got +80 HP. Then when you get 3 pieces, you get an even better bonus, in addition to the +80 HP, I got +9 dexterity, and +25 physical attack.

5th Clip: Combat is very entertaining. You are free to move during combat without losing your target lock. I've only fought 1 boss so far, but it was a long fight. It took me, alone, 12-14 minutes to kill this boss, luckily, I'm a Knight/Priest, so I was able to heal myself during the battle.

6th Clip: There are also lots of upgradable skills. The skills are really cool. I have this one skill that is a buff on myself, and every time I hit an enemy, it puts a light seal on them. When they have 3 light seals on them, I can break the seals and regain mana. There are class skills, and class-specific skills. The class-specific skills you can only use when that class is your primary class.

Alright, I know that was a lot of info, but bear with me 'cause I have a little bit more. If you want to download the game, go to runesofmagic.com, and click the appropriate flag in the upper right hand corner of the page. If you have problems connecting to the game after you've registered and downloaded, go to this site http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmes... or this is site http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/show... Please let me know what you think, leave a comment below. I will have a poll on my blog about whether or not to start making Runes of Magic videos.

Computer Situation

Well, it is taking much longer than expected to get a new computer. I think it's been somewhere around 7, maybe 8 months now. I do still plan to release more videos as soon as my new computer is up and running. I have to stick to a ridiculously strict budget with this new computer, $500 or less. What makes it worse, is that I am a gamer. Therefore, I need a computer that can keep up with the latest games. I've been searching ebay, and I've found some great deals, but the price always shoots up at the last second. Anyway, I'll keep searching for a computer.

PW International vs. PW MY

I intended to make a video comparing Perfect World International to Prefect World Malaysia, but I've had a couple of delays with my new computer. First off, they are the same game. There are only one or two major difference between the two. PWI has The Lost Empire expansion which adds some more content to the game. However, as of now, it's arenas are currently closed and have been for several weeks. Other than that, there are only minor changes. PWI and PW MY have a lot of different names for the same thing. One that I particularly don't like is changing Ancient Dragon City to Archosaur. I mean seriously, Archosaur? Anyway, the names of the classes, skills, stats, and pretty much everything else has been changed, but it doesn't change the game. Personally, I feel that PWI will grow faster than PW MY because it seems to have a much larger development team. Some people have even called PW MY the guinea pig for PWI. Also, PWI has more community based events, such as holiday quests/gear. Some of the small grammar issues in PW MY are not present in PWI because of it's North American centered audience. On that note, for people playing in North America, the ping on International servers (almost always below 50) is much less than on PW MY servers (usually around 200) making the game a little bit more responsive. To sum it up, if your in North America and haven't already a invested in a character in a different version of PW, go for PWI. Otherwise, stick with the version your playing, but if you feel the need to try PWI, take it for a spin. I have started a character in PWI (level 18), but I will still spend the majority of time in PW MY. On my videos, I'll try to keep the different names of items from being an issue. I hope this helps all of you who can't decide what version of PW is best for you.
